Equine Welfare - Special Programme 3-9 NOV 2024

A combination of riding (jumping or dressage lessons) and interactive presentations given by a registered equine veterinary surgeon. 

The program is available from Sunday 3rd to Friday 8th or Sunday 3rd to Saturday 9th, both include 4 hours of riding lessons (to choose between Dressage or Jumping), 2 hours of trail, a welcome tour around the finca and 3 hours of workshop interactive presentations. Accommodation and full board included.

Participants choosing the Sunday to Saturday program, on Friday there is a transfer included to visit Portocolom bay during the day.

What is the workshop for? 
Structured and interactive session designed to create an environment for meaningful understanding of horse care and welfare.
 

The first 1-hour workshop is an essential course of FIRST AID PROCEDURES. You will:

• Gain a basic overview of what’s normal to recognize when there is a problem
• Common problems you will face
• Learn how to administer first aid
• Lean essential help to provide until a professional arrives

The second 1-hour workshop is an introduction to horse behaviour. Understanding horse behaviour is a must to be able to identify horse behaviour problems which are a common complaint of horse owners.

The third 1-hour workshop is about equine conformation, biomechanics and beyond. Emphasis on functional conformation-recognizing that while a horse may not have perfect conformation, it must be fit for its intended purpose. This talk intents to equip the participants to evaluate not just the ideal conformation, but how specific conformational traits can influence a horse’s risk of injury, areas prone to tension and overall biomechanics.

After every presentation, Francina will answer all the questions the participants may have.
